  • About 1 1/4 hours drive from Beijing, this section of the wall is less touristy than Badaling. Includes gondola tickets up and either gondola or toboggan sled down. If going in the morning you can enjoy a lunch including fresh fish (trout) if you like.
  • Only offered after visiting Mutianyu Great Wall in the morning, you may have a Chinese style lunch including fresh trout (pick your own from the pond). You can also use a pole to catch fish while you wait for lunch. Also includes an assortment of other Chinese dishes both veg and meat.
  • First walk the Sacred Way then visit the underground Ding tomb or the Chang Ling Tomb (above ground). Your choice. Fits in with a trip to the wall. If you go in the morning look at our Ming Tombs lunch options.
  • Start off with luxurious baths. Also you may steam or sauna. This is followed by a 50 minute full body massage or foot massage in a private room (normally 2 guests per room). Then enjoy a buffet dinner including seafood, salads, Chinese dishes and standard soft drinks or beer. We have carefully selected this spa for quality and service. Frequented by Chinese this is not a tourist destination.

  • Chinese culture is on display in the morning. See tai chi and numerous other activities which Chinese participate in to stay young and healthy. A great start to the day.
  • The Temple of Heaven complex was visited by the Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties for annual ceremonies of prayer to Heaven for a good harvest. The north/south walk goes through park and historic monuments.
  • Sliced duck carved at your table. Crispy skin and tender meat. Roll it in a little tortilla (called a "bing") with cucumber, onion and plum sauce. Eat your mini-tortilla and have a few more! Also enjoy some side dishes.
  • The Emperor and his imperial court left the Forbidden City each summer to take up residence in the Summer Palace to escape the heat. This purpose built resort is two-thirds water containing Kunming Lake. You can stroll the banks of the lake and enjoy the pavilions, palaces and terraces. If you have time, a boat ride is included.
  • You can walk along the banks of Houhai lake and perhaps find your own meal there, or walk over to Nanluoguxiang, a refurbished alleyway with funky shops, cafes and restaurants / bars. You can also walk on the Gulou street between Houhai and Nanluoguxiang, there are lots of interesting shops and restaurants.

  • Our service style: Most budget tour operators require you to spend hours of your day in overpriced tourist shops so they can collect commissions. These stops are usually not on the itinerary and just "come up" (ask them when booking). We don't take you on surprise shopping stops. If you want to shop we can help you find what you want at a fair price. We have no hidden costs, such charges for extra drinks at meals, admission tickets, cable cars and bottled water.

We can add airport transfers, hotels, domestic flights and train tickets to any tour, please ask for a quotation.
